UJI DAYA HAMBAT ISOLAT BAKTERI ENDOFIT TANAMAN KAYU JAWA Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr. TERHADAP Candida albicans

Abstract


ABSTRAK

Candida albicans adalah jamur patogen yang  bersifat  komensal dalam saluran pencernaan dan genitourinari dan merupakan mikroflora pada oral dan konjungtiva. Namun, dapat menyebabkan infeksi ketika sistem kekebalan tubuh terganggu. Bakteri endofit yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman obat memiliki peran dalam jalur metabolisme dan mendapatkan beberapa informasi genetik untuk menghasilkan senyawa bioaktif spesifik mirip dengan tanaman inang dan diketahui memiliki aktivitas antimikroba spektrum luas yang potensial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis daya hambat bakteri endofit asal tanaman kayu jawa terhadap Candida albicans. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian true experimental laboratory. Uji  daya hambat dari dua belas isolat bakteri endofit terhadap Candida albicans dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan  metode difusi cakram. Hasil pengukuran zona hambat menunjukkan semua isolat bakteri endofit mampu menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Diantara dua belas isolat tersebut, isolat bakteri endofit KJA3 yang memiliki daya hambat paling besar (20,75 mm). Dari hasil penelitian kami juga menunjukkan bahwa penelitian lebih lanjut tentang karakterisasi kurva pertumbuhan dari bakteri endofit diperlukan untuk mengidentifikasi fase pertumbuhan ketika metabolit sekunder diproduksi

ABSTRACT

Candida albicans is a commensal fungal pathogen in the digestive tract and genitourinary and is an oral and conjunctival microflora. However, it can cause infection when the immune system is compromised. Endophytic bacteria associated with medicinal plants have a role in metabolic pathways and obtain some genetic information to produce specific bioactive compounds similar to host plants and are known to have potential broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. This study aims to analyze the inhibition of endophytic bacteria from kayu jawa plants against Candida albicans. This research is a true experimental laboratory research. The inhibitory test of twelve endophytic bacterial isolates against Candida albicans in this study was carried out using the disc diffusion method. Inhibition zone measurement results showed that all endophytic bacterial isolates were able to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. Among the twelve isolates, KJA3 endophytic bacterial isolate which has the greatest inhibition (20.75 mm). Our results also show that further research on the characterization of growth curves of endophytic bacteria is needed to identify the growth phase when secondary metabolites are produced.
