THE INFLUENCES OF ROLE PLAY TECHNIQUE AND SPEAKING CONFIDENCE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY
Abstract
The study focuses on the role-playing effect together with speaking confidence on students' speaking skills. A factorial research design was employed, with data collected through questionnaires and speaking tests. A paired sample t-test, an independent sample t-test, and a two-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Some findings revealed that, first, the role-playing technique significantly influenced the speaking ability of eleventh-grade students, distinguishing between those with high and low speaking confidence. Second, a notable difference in how well students could speak based on whether they were taught using role play or not. Lastly, the study found significant interaction effects between role play application and students’ speaking confidence in speaking, indicating that both factors play a crucial part in enhancing the ability to speak.
