Author Guidelines
Authors wishing to submit a manuscript to English Community Journal (ECJ) must follow the requirements below. Manuscripts should be prepared using the official ECJ manuscript template and submitted through the journal's online submission system.
- Focus and Types of Manuscripts
ECJ accepts original research articles and scholarly review articles in English Language Education, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, and Literature and Cultural Studies. Manuscripts must fall within the journal's stated Focus and Scope and make a clear scholarly contribution.
- Originality and Publication Ethics
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Authors must properly acknowledge sources and comply with ECJ's Publication Ethics, including provisions on authorship, plagiarism, research integrity, informed consent, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and responsible use of artificial intelligence. Any related preprints or overlapping publications should be disclosed when relevant.
- Manuscript Format
Prepare the manuscript in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) on A4 paper. Use Times New Roman, 12 pt for the main text, single-line spacing, and a two-column layout for the article body, as specified in the official ECJ template. Follow the template for page margins, paragraph indentation, headings, tables, and figures. The title and abstract occupy the full page width above the two-column body.
- Title, Author Information, Abstract, and Keywords
- Title: Write a concise, informative title in English containing no more than 15 words, using Times New Roman 12 pt, bold, and centered, as in the template.
- Authors: Provide full names without academic titles, institutional affiliations, and the corresponding author's email address. Author names use Times New Roman 12 pt; affiliation details use Times New Roman 11 pt, following the template.
- Abstract: Provide one paragraph in English of 100–150 words, using Times New Roman 10 pt, justified, and single-spaced. Summarize the purpose, method or approach, principal findings, and conclusion. Do not include citations in the abstract.
- Keywords: Provide no more than five relevant words or phrases in English.
- Manuscript Organization
Original Research Articles should follow the structure: Introduction; Research Method; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgments (if applicable); and References.
- Introduction: Present the background, rationale, relevant literature, research gap, research objectives or questions, and significance of the study.
- Research Method: Describe the research design, setting and participants or sources, sampling where relevant, instruments or materials, procedures, and data analysis. Report appropriate validity, reliability, qualitative trustworthiness, or ethical safeguards when applicable.
- Results and Discussion: Present the findings in a logical sequence, answer the research questions, interpret the evidence, and relate the findings to relevant literature and theory.
- Conclusion: Summarize the principal findings in relation to the objectives and, where appropriate, state implications, limitations, or recommendations without introducing new results.
Review Articles should include an Introduction, Review Methodology or Analytical Approach, Literature Synthesis and Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Section headings may be adapted to the type of review, but the general ECJ formatting requirements must be maintained.
- Tables and Figures
Number tables and figures consecutively and refer to each in the text. Place table titles above tables and figure captions below figures. Ensure that headings, numerical data, charts, and illustrations remain legible within the column layout. Tables or figures that are too wide for one column may span the full page width. Acknowledge sources and obtain reproduction permission when required.
- Citations and References
Use the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition, consistently for in-text citations and the reference list. Include only sources cited in the manuscript. Provide a DOI as a URL (https://doi.org/...) when available. Authors are encouraged to use relevant, credible, and recent peer-reviewed journal literature; journal articles should constitute a substantial proportion of references where suitable to the study. Follow the reference examples and hanging-indent format in the ECJ template.
- Online Submission and Editorial Screening
Submit manuscripts through the ECJ Online Submissions page. Authors must ensure that the manuscript complies with these Author Guidelines, the official template, the journal's Focus and Scope, and its Publication Ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements may be returned for technical correction or declined during the initial editorial screening. Manuscripts proceeding to review will be considered under the published Peer Review Process.

Author Fees
This journal charges the following author fees.
Article Submission: 33.25 (USD)
Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.
If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
